Steel sheet piles are long structural sections with a vertical interlocking system that create a continuous wall. The walls are often used to retain either soil or water. The ability of a sheet pile section to perform is dependent upon its geometry and the soils it is driven into. The pile transfers pressure from the high side of the wall to the soil in front of the wall.
In piling, hot rolled steel sheet pile and cold-formed steel sheet pile are two primary methods of manufacturing sheet piles. While there are differences between these two methods, the most important distinction is the interlock. Since hot-rolled steel sheet piling is produced from steel at high temperatures, the interlock tends to be tighter than its cold-formed steel sheet pile counterpart. Normally, looser interlocks are not recommended in extremely hard driving conditions or for walls requiring low permeability. Otherwise, the two types of sections perform similarly.
Hot rolled sheet piles
Hot Rolled Sheet Piles are formed by profiling the steel with high temperatures as the rolling process occurs. Typically, hot rolled sheet piles are produced to BS EN 10248 Part 1 & 2. Greater thicknesses are achievable than cold rolled sheet piles. The interlocking clutch tends to be tighter as well.
Cold rolled / formed sheet piles
Cold Rolling and Forming processes are when the steel sheet pile is profiled at room temperature. The profile thickness is constant along the width of the profile. Typically, cold rolled/formed sheet piles are produced to BS EN 10249 Part 1 & 2. Cold Rolling occurs in a continuous section from hot rolled coil whereas Cold Forming occurs is discrete lengths either from decoiled hot rolled coil or plate. A wide range of widths and depths are achievable.
Applications
Sheet piles are a commonly used material in construction. They are sections of metal sheets that feature edges that are interlocked. The applications of sheet piles vary. They can be used for retaining walls, underground structures, and even at seaports. Thanks to its interlocked edges, sheet piles can be installed into the ground to provide the foundation for various structures.
Product Inventory
We are a professional steel dealer. With the support of the most professional steel manufacturers and a large number of customers, we can not only provide you with ordinary steel but also help you find very personalized steels, such as special steel grades, Special sizes, special craft shapes.
We adopt standard export shipping packaging and bundles steel strips according to the size of the steel sheet piles. According to our delivery experience, a 20-foot container can hold 22 tons of carbon steel, and a 40-foot container can hold 25 tons of carbon steel. For larger orders, we use bulk vessels to transport you, and the price is cheaper. Also, we can customize the packaging according to the needs of customers.
